No. You don't need to be concerned. That's what babies do! But you do want to wake him up about every two to three hours and feed him, play, change him, interact, for about 15 to 30 minutes throught out the day to get him comfortable in a schedule that teaches his little body that day time is awake time and night time is sleep time. You don't need to wake him during the night if you do this. Let him sleep through the night so that his body will know it's sleep time. (This also makes for a good sleeper when they get older.) He should gradually change is pattern as he grows so that eventually he will have about a 2 hour nap twice a day by 12 months. Also, if you are breast feeding, and are enjoying an occasional glass of wine, beware that it will affect him and cause him to sleep but you really shouldn't drink if your breast feeding. Hope that helps. And congratulations on your baby boy! Blessings on your son and your family!

Not entirely unusual, but rare. Your best bet is to run it by your pediatrician , and keep a close eye on the patterns. Feeding mainly. Usually as long as baby is eating good, gaining weight, he should be just fine.
Sleeping patterns in infants change every month or every 2 months. It was something I read up on because my son refused to sleep more than 3 or 4 hours max, and unfortunatly at a year and a half..still wakes up a couple of times a night lol.
They get into different patterns frequently and you kind of just have to roll with it. There is only so much you can do to actually help control the situation.
Talk with doc, and best of luck!

Do not worry every baby is different usually if a baby is healthy and full he will generally sleep longer. This can be a good sign that you have good parenting skills. If you are concerned about any health issues consult your pediatrician. Most likely your child is healthy, happy and well fed. In most cases at 1 month your childs sleeping habits should change. Hopefully, it is at night, try waking him early from his naps earlier during the day and allow him to sleep thru the night. This is perfectly normal especially for bottle fed babies. Breastfed babies tend to sleep for shorter periods of time because they are hungry. So if your infant is sleeping longer don't be alarmed you are most likely doing something right.

When my daughter was an infant she began sleeping through the night from about 2 months. Every baby is different, I can certainly understand your concern though. Be sure he is sleeping on his back.

I would not be too concerned with him sleeping too long. Both of my children came home from the hospital and slept 6 hours a night all the time. Your baby will wake up when he/she is ready to eat. I would check on the baby on a regular basis for my comfort to make sure he/she is breathing normally and to check the diaper. Other than that I wouldn't worry about it to much. Newborns eat and sleep on their own schedule not on yours. I don't think that there is any cause for concern as long as you have a happy healthy baby.

There could be any number of reasons why he slept that long. Was it only one time? The biggest concern is, if he's sleeping that long, he's not eating the way he should be. Newborns eat every 2-3 hours. My doctor told me to wake my daughter after about 3 hours to feed her if she didn't wake on her own.

It's nothing to worry about. I remember when I son was a month old and I woke up (on my own) at 7:00 am only to realize that he slept thru the night. I was worried at first thinking maybe something was wrong. Hahaha! Enjoy, and never wake a sleeping baby.

Doctor's and nurses will tell you to wake them to feed them, but if they baby is sleeping 7 hours straight through the night I say leave them alone. All my kids started sleeping through the night by 1 month and there is no way I'm compromising my sleep. Obviously if the baby is hungry they will wake up and let you know.

Yeah, I agree u must be feeding him well. Give it a couple months and u will be wondering why he is sleeping so less and more activce. I have 3 boys and they grew fast in that first year. They are all memories now of how they use to sleep that long. Now it is maybe 30 minutes to an hour if not less time than that. Good Luck in the future.

In a nutshell, as long as you're getting plenty of wet diapers, and he's eating well, you don't need to worry. It's not unheard of to sleep that long at one month (count yourself lucky). I'm curious as to whether he will do that several nights in a row. Sometimes it's just a blip. My son was sleeping 7 hrs a night consistantly at around 7 weeks.

You didn't say whether you were breast or bottle feeding. If bottle feeding, keep a record of how much he's taking in every day. General rule of thumb is 2.5 oz for every pound of body weight. For breast feeding, you do have to be concerned about your milk supply. As long as he's getting enough milk, you might choose to pump more frequently while he's sleeping so that you continue to produce.

As always, if you're still nervous, just call your pediatrician. A quick phone call will give you peace of mind.

no it is OK, as long as you wake them before 8 hours and feed them, 8 hours is as long as they should go at that age with out their formula, my son started sleeping through the night at 1 month old too, and feel lucky, some don't sleep through the night for months, just keep him or her on a regular feeding time and they will be fine and you will get some sleep, good luck
