What do you think is better if you just need the ability to access outlook e-mail, write papers, and access the Internet on the go? I am going to school online and I also work full time in sales so I am always moving. I have a good computer at home and work I just need something for in between here and there. What would you recommend? And should I lease or buy if I am only planning on really using it for a few years. I kind of think that leasing is a good idea since technology changes so fast. If I buy then it would just be obsolete in a few years. Let me know what you think.

I would say that a laptop will be better off for future use it will do everything you want and has alot more potential than a hand held.

Leasing is MORE EXPENSIVE in the Long Run -- and as far as laptops go -- I've had one that is now 2 years old, and it is STILL More than capable of running the latest versions of all the software that I use daily (and I have a Digital SLR that I shoot .raw images with and process them with the Adobe Photoshop Software). The Word Processing, the access of the internet, and the Papers/spreadsheets I do write are readable and not a strain for me to develop/view in the Laptop.

I also have a Pocket PC -- which is now about a year and half old -- which I use as my main scheduler and personal assistant. It is definitely handy -- and does connect to my Laptop so that I can exchange the files between the two for various uses. HOWEVER, the Pocket PC is very DIFFICULT to do things such as Spreadsheet Development, write long letters (the Stylus is the way I 'write' -- so very tiny dots for the letters, and after about 10 minutes -- it is so much of a strain, that I will write simple notes and then expand on the laptop at a later time).

Reading E-Messages on the Pocket PC IS a strain on my eyes. I can't ever get around that. The Scheduling Function of the Pocket PC is what I use it mostly for -- and tracking purchase orders, actions, etc. The Laptop is my main 'out of the house' computer and that is what I use it for.

So in reality, I recommend both -- but first -- the Laptop. If I had leased the Laptop -- FOR SURE by the time the 1st Year was up -- I would have already paid in lease terms MORE than what I paid up front for the Laptop AND the Pocket PC.

Listen to SQLMOM, she is on the money. But I personally stay away from anything windows. I have a Mac and a Palm. My other 1/2 has windows, we have no compatibiity problems other then he has Mac envy.. He sees the stability and ease of use I have with my Mac compared to his windows system.

I would recommend the combo. My Palm is in use several hours a day and so is my MAC. They play well together and each has it's own use.

Cost wise, don't lease! It is the most expensive way to get a computer.

Get a laptop. You'll be better off because you can type much easier with it. Don't worry about getting an old one either because all you need it for is light work so just get an older one with wifi. I used to try a palm with a full foldout keyboard and it got old quick.
