I doubt it. Green bay scored no points, which means they did not have much competition.
Teams that are better than Chicago:
Seattle
Indy
Arizona
Pittsburg
Cinncinatti.
Baltimore
St Louis

After week two, there should be AT LEAST 5 more teams that can be mentioned on this list.

Rex and Urlac are the good players, the rest are not extrodinary

The next thing you are going to say is that the cubs are a good baseball team right? The bears beat the equivalent of the cubs in football. The bears will finish 8 and 8 or 9 and 7 this year, and that will not be the best record in the league. The cubs are possibly the worst professional franchise in sports history of any team 100 years or older.

Did you actually watch the game? Or are you like most Bear fans in that you probably b!tched about them all day until you caught the final score on WGN last night. Now you'll be raving all week about how they're going to the Super Bowl.

The Bears will do well to win the division this year. On Sunday, their offense only scored one TD, that only because Marquand Manuel bit hard on a play fake and didn't give Al Harris help over the top on Bernard Berrian's big catch.
The Bears only rushed for 109 yards as a team; Ahman Green had 110 by himself.
The Bears also were only 4-for-14 on third downs.

Sound like the makings of the "best team in the NFL" to you now?

"I should hope not!"

If the Bears can establish consistency over the weaker teams in the NFL and can compete against the more powerful teams, they could be called an elite team. That means going 12-4 (5-1 within the North at a minimum) and winning some games such as week 4 at home vs Seattle, week 6 at Arizona, and week 12 at New England.

Winning 12 games means they will have a first round bye at least and possibly home-field. They'd have to at least make it to the NFC Championship game to establish themselves as a team to reckon with.

Now, think about this: they just beat up on one of the weakest teams in the NFL. Can you really project the kind of success necessary to ensure their status based on this first game? When they have played 10 games, you'll know who the Bears really are. They may be the team I talked about above. Or maybe not.

YES! They have a great defense and they beat up on perhaps the WORST team in the NFL yesterday. They still have no offense and will more than meet their match when they get to the meat of their schedule. Da Bears are nowhere near being the best team in the NFL but the Packers may very well be the worst.

Sorry but I doubt they are the "best" team in the NFL!!! It was their first game of the season & who'd they play?! Oh yeah, the Packers, a team that isn't all that good either, of course someone had to win.

You are a little over exicited don't you think they beat the packers. If you feel that makes them the best team in football maybe iceskating is the sport for you. The Raven shut out the Bucs and scored 27 on the Bucs defense I was much more impressed by that win.

I am in no doubt that they are NOT the best team in the NFL! There are several better teams! Philadelphia will be back in the Playoffs this year!!

Yes, and I'm a die-hard Bears fan. I bleed Blue and Orange.

Come on - be realistic. If the past decade of history hasn't proven to you that the Bears can show flashes of greatness and then still manage to completely self-destruct during the season, you haven't been watching closely enough.

"Best team in the NFL"?? Please.

I isn't time to celebrate yet.

Green Bay is a lousy team. Lets see how the bears handles more complicated division rivals such as the vikes

Of course we are still doubting. I wouldn't get too excited, they only beat the Green Bay Packers with an over the hill quarterback that goes by the name of Brett Favre.
