Robert McCammon is a very good author. Also Bently Little, John Saul, Richard Laymon, Clive Barker, all similar to Dean Koontz.

LOTS OF GOOD ANSWERS HERE!

I'd say Peter Staub and Robert McCammon are closest to Koontz. Clive Barker is a stretch. He can veer a little toward the sci-fi/fantasy side. I have heard that Mystery, the second book in Peter Straub's Blue Rose trilogy, is a great read and one of his best.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD READING!!

I would go with Jeffery Deaver and Richard Laymon. I am a librarian. I do this all day practically.

Michael Crichton. He is as captivating as Koontz, just more scientific than mystical.
