She delivered a baby in Jan and has to go for her 6 month check-up. Will the OB/GYN be able to detect it?

It is possible depending on how much damage was done to the uterus during the D&C or D&E and how much experience her OB/GYN has. However, it is never a good idea to withhold information from a physician, especially if she plans on having subsequent pregnancies or has an abnormal pap smear.

If there are no complications, then there is no need for your friend to go back to the doctor..so the doctor wouldn't know..but if the doctor has examined your friend beforehand, of course the OB-GYNE would know .. but i suggest that your friend be truthful when giving her medical history because that's also for her own good and she will suffer the consequences, if something goes terribly wrong after that procedure.

No. I had an abortion about 8 years ago and my OB/GYN still does not know.

If the doctor looks for that then yes. As distinct as the scars on the cervix from abortion are. If the doctor doesn't routinely look for them then they can go unnoticed.
