I am a person that will always help those in need. I was going to visit my parents one weekend and had my 2yr old with me at the time. this man was on crutches walking from a car on the highway. It was also raining .. I pulled over to pick him up. I gave him a ride to the exit I needed to get off of. He asked if I wanted anything for the ride . I replied " No " and I left . One day later, a friend of mine and I was watching Americas Most Wanted and sure enough there he was and this is no lie. I called the hot line and reported this . But you never know what can happen in a situation like picking up a hitch hiker DON'T DO IT. No matter how guilty you feel you can't trust anyone these days.

I drive alone, and I almost always feel guilty when I pass a hitch hiker, but I probably won't ever stop for one. There's too much risk involved. Heck, I don't even think I'd stop for a cop at night, I'd call dispatch and tell them that I was going to pull in at the next well-lit gas station.

I used to pick up a hitch hiker (male or female) if I felt they would be no danger to me. I don't anymore because you cannot tell if they could be dangerous or not regardless of their appearance. I do not feel guilty passing them as a few have spoilt it for the rest.

I always feel so bad when I'm driving in the rain and I see someone walking. I feel like I should ask them if they need a ride. But I get scared in todays world and I have a baby to think about. Then I also think that I work very hard to have and pay for a car so tough for them.

A couple of times while travelling in a foreign country by car. They weren't hitch-hikers as such, they were people from tiny villages which didn't have a public transport system and you see them walking miles and miles to their village and it seemed natural to stop and give them a lift.

I wouldn't feel the slightest bit guilty -- it's not MY fault they didn't make provisions for getting to where they need to go, or haven't cultivated enough friends that they weren't able to ask one for a lift, or didn't work hard enough to pay for a bus ticket.

And no, I doubt I would ever pick up some stranger and let them into my car, any more than I would invite someone I didn't know into my home.

No, I don't and wouldn't. The thought of it scares me, as most of the time I am in a vehicle, I have my kids with me. No, I don't feel guilty for driving by them, walking is good for you.

Sometimes I feel really guilty. Especially when its another woman stranded on the side of the road or something like that. But I never have and I never will stop. You just never know these days.

I do feel guilty driving by them also but....I am usually alone. I'm not stopping. Now my husband will and has before but not with me or the kids with him. And just men.
