I might have the strangest one. I was on a geology field trip, and that morning we hiked up Mt. Lassen in California. We made it to the top at ~11 AM PST and many of us had gained cell phone reception for the first time in days (it helps reception to on top of a 10,000 foot volcano). I remember people calling to check in with family, and then I remember as two of my friends simultaniously getting confused at what they were hearing...

We found out, and rounded up the class. We had several issues to deal with. First of all, this was an international field trip, and we didn't know if everyone was going to be able to get home to their country. Secondly, one classmate's mother worked at the Pentagon, and she was distraught. We eventually got in touch with her mother to find out everything was OK.

Needless to say, we did little geology that day. We got the class and we went to a local bar and watched on TV everything that was happening. I'll never forget that.

My wife and I had moved to Anaheim California from New York in June 2000, where we both had lived all of our lives. My wife and I were sleeping, and we used the TV as an alarm clock. The TV came on at, I believe 6am or it may have been 6:15 am, not too sure but anyway the TV woke me up and my wife was still sleeping and I saw a live picture of the World Trade Center on fire, several stories up and I remember wiping my eyes like am I seeing what I am seeing. I said to my wife, "The World Trade Center is on fire" and she said "What?" and I replied, "They must be filming a movie" because I knew, with the cement construction, there was no way that the WTC could be burning. She [my wife] sat up and at that moment the second plane hit and we knew it was for real. So sad to see a icon of the worlds most recognized city in ruins.

Thank God you were alright. We prayed for all of you who were living and working there at the time.

I was sleeping off the night shift. I got up to let the dogs out and listened to my daughter's message on my answering machine, "Mom, do you see what's happening in our country right now?" I had no clue, but turned on the TV just in time to see the reruns of the WTC being hit. I thought it was a TV movie and changed the channel eagerly searching for the "news" my daughter was referring to. Well, once I realized it was on every channel I sat down in horror. Shocked.

Each year I take September 11 off from work and watch the footage that I have taped. It rekindles my anger. I think we need to be reminded of how evil those people can really be, and how little regard they have for our lives and the lives of our children. Had I been in Bush's shoes when they found out who was behind it, I think I would've pushed that button and wiped the middle east right off the map. Good thing I wasn't president.

I worked for an electrical supply house, and had been up all night delivering emergency equipment for a Power Generating plant a couple of hours away from where i lived. I got home and went to bed just before the first plane struck. I woke up about 5 hours after the attack. My wife told me what had happened and I sat angry and confused watching every scrap of information I could get my hands on. I went out and gave blood, went to work and watched the fear cross my town. The window of my Office overlooked a Gas station and I watched as the lines grew longer and the prices soared and waited for the Riots to start. It amazed me what blind fear could do to people. And how people could take advantage of such a situation.

I was in 4th grade, and I was in math class at my elementry school. The day was a normal day: My teachers lecturing, the recess activities, and everything. We hadnt recieved any information. So then, on the school bus home, me and my friend overheard some talking, but we didnt know what was happening. Then, at home, I learned the news: The planes crashed into the twin towers and the pentagon. At first, me being an idiot 9 year old, wondered what the big deal was if no one died. I was badly scolded and told over 1100 people died in the tower. then, 180 people died in the pentagon. Thats when I realized it was of serious importance.

Sitting at my desk and one of my co-workers said a plane hit the WTC and I told her they didn't say anything on the news (radio) she must of heard it wrong but when the second one was it then we all just stood there trying to listen to everything they were saying. My brother's family had just left for a cruise so I went to his house to listen to big TV and see what had happened all day after work. Since then I heard from people who lost someone that day. I just couldn't get enough of the books they put out on this and to this day I look at those books.

I was on my way to High School. I was listening to the radio when the first plane hit. At that point they thought it was just some freak accident. But when I got into school we found out that it was a terrorist attack. We did nothing for the rest of the day but watch the TV.

I had just dropped my children off at school. Went to pick up some stuff at a hardware store. I saw the footage on the tv asked what it was.. the guy said somebody crashed into the twin towers. I didn't know the severity. Picked up what I needed.. when I got home.. it was all over the news!

It was overwhelming!

I was training for a corrections officer.
We were in class for defensive tacticts when a lietenant walked in and gave us the news.
We ended class for the day and stayed glued to the tv.
It was really weird because I am in Pennsylvania, the training was being held in Harrisburg (the capital) and 3 mile island was near by (a nuclear power plant). Plus there was alot of confusion because there were alot of people training from western Pa. where the one plane went down.

I was in my living room with my daughter watching the news and saw the second plane hit the other tower I knew immediately knew what was going on and who did it! My daughter and I left as fast as we could to get my grandaughter out of school. When we got home we heard about the pentagone and then the plane in Penn. I was so sickened to think about all the people who died and then the towers came down and I knew more people had died. I cryed for them and prayed for their familys.
