30000 people die of hunger each day,
3000 people die of malaria each day,
over 6000 people die of AIDS each day in Africa alone,

Puts a lot of things in perspective, and whilst they are great tragedies, there is a difference. 9/11 was a group of extremists with malice aforethought bringing about an act of terrorism on a country that was not at 'war' with any other country.
They were trying to impose their will of belief upon an unwilling people.
Whilst the figures you quote are terrible, there is a lot of these situations that are bought about by these countries own corrupt governments. Whilst we should be aware of such sad losses and endeavor to do something about it , for most people the reality of a devastating tragedy on their doorstep has far more impact. Unfortunate but the way of the world.

That is a tragedy (as was 9/11).

I knew that, it's just that those who died in 9/11, had a voice that could speak out for them, many of the poor don't. (That still doesn't make killing right though, and it never will)

But i believe at the end of the day, having visited a poverty stricken country and worked directly with the poor that poverty has not yet been eradicated because us Richie's have stuff to learn from them.
i.e. wealth creates poverty, because we have something to judge upon.

Those things are all very tragic, but it does not make what happened on 9-11-01 any less horrible, nor does it make the victims of the terrorist attacks any less worthy of our thoughts.
