how do the points work?

how can you go up and down levels? and now do you get points apart from answering questions?

Up and down levels with points. Answer questions get points. Select a best answer get points. Vote on answers get points. When you hit a certain point number you go up a level. See the point rules in Y!A. You lose points for asking or deleting a question. You also get a point every day you visit.

from your home page of the Q&A, click on your number of points, it will direct you on the scoring system.

Here's how the points work (right most numbers are the points equivalent to it)

So the best way to earn points is simply to answer as much questions as you can... and please try to do it smartly, you'll never know which answer/s will make a difference to the person who asked you the question/s as well as those that will give you additional 10 points.
