most scopes use 1/4minute settings.1/4 inches per click.
at target range with a target setting at 100yards.aiming at bullseye,using a rest,fire a shot. say it is 2 inches low,3 inches right.move top ring in up direction,8 notches.move side ring left 12 notches.fire next shot. it should be on target.bear in mind most rifles will be lucky to stay in a 1inch pattern.for hunting this is plenty good enough.

I assume that you are questioning the two knob like covers on the scope barrel. If you unscrew the covers there are adjustments for up and down under one and side to side under the other. this is for you to center the crosshairs on target for different distances and wind conditions.
