There is this woman-not a friend really-more of an acquaintance (a friend of a friend's sister) who lets her husband beat her till she's bloody, black, and blue. Everyone feels sorry for her but I can't stand her because she stays in such crap. Why?

I had a similar situation with a coworker..only she didn't get beat but was always begging money to get her out of jams. She was what I call a professional victim. There were a couple people in the office who would hold her while she licked wounds. That was the reason she continued for YEARS.....as long as she could find a sucker to pity her she would thrive under that pity. It is a SICKNESS....I think it is an addiction to be a freakin martyr all the time. This person makes you angry because they are a leach on society and they make strong independant women look pathetic.....who wants a "woman" like her to represent our gender. NOT ME. She is weak and she will do nothing to help herself that is what makes me mad

Thats a pretty loaded question....Everyone is entitled to there own feelings but unless your in there shoes you don't know nor do you have room to judge...my mom was in an abusive relationship with my father before i was conceived and it continued after i was born my mom was in a real bad situation and she too stayed for way too long because of fear and no self esteem as if maybe it was her fault or maybe she could stop doing whatever to make him happy..TRUTH IS NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT SO TRY BEING A LITTLE NICER TO YOUR AQUANTANCE AS YOU CALL HER !! SHE COULD PROBABLY USE A FRIEND!!!

Its okay not to like her that's your own opinion!!!! And from what it sounds like you dont like her because she is being really stupid and staying with a man that beats the **** out of her over and over again and stays... Some people just love the drama and would rather have that in their life than be normal.. So dont feel bad for disliking her she puts herself in that position and does nothing to stop it...

It could be that she is too afraid of him to leave. He may have told her he will kill her if she tries to leave. Abusers often do that. Maybe she feels she has no place to go. Let the friend of a friend's sister know about protection for battered women houses, she could be unaware that they exist. I hope this helps.

I also think they shouldn¸t stay with abusive person.But you don¸t know her reasons..maybe he told her he will kill her,or the kids or her family if she leaves him.I am sure she is staying with him because she thinks less damage is being done.

she needs help it's hard for her to leave . being abused is all she knows. when you are being a abused you fell like you are nothing and that there is nothing out there for you.
