Some Celtic diminutives for Margaret are Margo, Peggy, Pegeen,
Megan
Caitlin, Kaytlyn, however you spell it, are just other ways to spell Kathleen, which is a diminutive form of Kate
(BTW Caitlin should be pronounced kaw-itch-leen)
Shannon( after the river) Bridget, Fionna, Fionnuala (or Nuala for short) Moire=Mary
For men, there is always Sean (John) or Brendan, Padraic=Patrick Liam, William Pulliam
I like to use the name Podraigh UiSeulabachain.
People ask "What nationality is that?". I tell them it is a Cork name. Then they say "HUH???"
Then I have to explain that the name comes from County Cork and that it is the Irish spelling for Patrick O'Sullivan.
