I had a rabbit that did this one time. What I ended up doing was just removing the food dish all together after feeding her. I would offer her pellets in the morning for about 2 hours, take her dish out, put it back in around 6pm, take it back out after about an hour, and just did it that way. It seemed to curb the problem pretty well. There were a few times when she still did that, and those times I took the food bowl and dumped it in the middle of her cage...rabbits really despise a dirty cage...they're neat freaks by nature...she never did it again. I would definitely go with the hanging feeder though. It makes things much easier. They tend to go by 3 names at the pet stores (in case you have to ask someone), anyone even remotely knowledgeable about rabbits should recognize either "J-Feeder" or "Sifter Feeder" or "Bin Feeder". Like I said in a previous post, hang it just high enough so that she has to reach just a little. That will discourage her from jumping in and doing the same thing. The other thing I'd be asking would be is she trying to tell you something else? Perhaps she needs/wants more fresh veggies or hay? Sometimes when we're giving them something they don't want they can act out like that. I would also suggest putting in a litter box for her. If she poops in her food bowl again, dump the feed into the litterbox. She'll pick up that it's not okay. Just be patient and love her for her quirks! Need any other help? Try a J-feeder or one that clips to the side of the cage and put it up too high for her to poop in it.

Pooping is not marking territory, it's something they just do wherever they are whenever they have to go. You may have the bowl in the place she wants to use as a potty. Or maybe she just likes sitting in the bowl, for whatever reason, and is there when nature calls!

First off buy a small littler box and put it in the cage. The rabbit will learn quick where to tinkle and its gonna make it alot easier for you to clean her cage. You can use feline pine or yesterdays news for littler. Not clay because the rabbit may get it stuck to him or eat it and neither is good. Its a great idea to get the dish that hooks to the side if for no other reason than it keeps the food off the floor and makes it easier for the bunny to eat.Good Luck

The water should be in a bottle and the food bowl should never be on the floor of the cage - for exactly that reason. Rather than buying something to solve the problem, remove the bowl and feed her/him from your hand every day. It's agreat way to teach them to come to you - they associate you with having food for them.

Your rabbit is marking her territory. You should read the book the House Rabbit Handbook and go to these websites.

eeessh. I suggest try to train her to go to the bathroom in a specific place. or just make her fast through the night.
