Snoring occurs when the free flow of air through the passages at the back of the mouth and nose is obstructed. This area is the collapsible part of the airway flow where our tongue & upper throat meet the soft palate & uvula. We snore when these structures strike each other and vibrate when we breathe. Sometimes kids with large tonsils and adenoids snore. Deformities of the nose eg deviated nasal septum can also cause snoring.
1. Simply change position of his/her head.
2. Check he/she has adenoids; if so get it treated.
3. Avoid everything that keeps mouth open while sleeping.
4. Avoid consumption of alcohol.
5. There are some drugs devices to avoid snoring like anit snore.
6. There are hundreds of devices patented, you can choose one.

Hi there !
Follow these rules..
I presume the person in question is an adult ?
1. Tell him , and reassure him..But never
accuse him or make fun of him.
2. Show him to an ENT surgeon to rule out
any medical problems.
3. Tell the person to sleep with his head-end
slightly elevated , maybe 30 degrees
elevated..
4. majority of the situations, slight change
in the sleeping posture will reduce or
minimise the problem..
with all best wishes for your fight back against snoring ....

a snore is a sign of an upper airway or nasal obstruction, so you need to find out the sight of obstruction. is the snore coming completely from a nasal obstruction, or is it an upper airway obstruction. have an overnight oximetry done to find out if your oxygen saturations are dropping. if there is a sawtoothing pattern in your oxygen sats, further investigation should be done, like a formal sleep study. investigate sleep disorders at the american academy of sleep medicine, or the association of polysomnographic technologists website.

If you want a temporary fix, nudge them, so theyll move. Itll stop for a few, but if you want them to stop for good, then they need to go to the doc. Or try those nose strips at the store first, they might help.
I know how irratating it can be. I sleep with one, and it keeps me awake.
