I was at work and a customer came into the store and was talking about something horrible that happened but he wouldnt tell me because he wasnt sure if it was a hoax and didnt want to "spread lies". So I Immediatly had my CSA turn on the TV and we turned it on and watched IN HORROR for a few mins of this huge building up in smoke... While we were watching we saw the second plane hit and KNEW immediatly that the US was under attack. I cried... and I couldnt stop. I knew that my husband (at the time) would go over seas and I knew that my two nephews (whom I ADORE!) would be going too. I wondered about how many other people would lose their lives over this. I cried. My husband came to my work and tried to comfort me because he knew as well that he would have to go... and he did go. So did my 2 nephews... They are all ok and back and safe now. THANK GOD! That night we rushed to the gas station because of rumors of HUGE gas peaks - That morning gas was 1.59... that night, it was 3.03! My step daughter turns 7 on wednesday... This morning I drove her to school and on the radio they were talking about it, and she was asking me about it... She had no idea what happened of coarse... So I told her all about it, and How probably EVERY YEAR on this date, Everyone will talk about what happened. It will be on everyones mind and someday will be written into history books. Its weird explaining such an important event that has changed history and lives so much to a child who never knew what happened... Sorry to sound like Im rambling... but I think everyone has their story of where they were. I dont think anyone will EVER forget.

I was in the labour room. My daughter, was born September 11, 2001. When I came out of the delivery room, I heard about the twin towers etc, I almost dropped my daughter and the nurse had to give me some tranquilisers, the doctor said it was the shock plus just giving birth. I wasn't able to properly celebrate her birth because my family and I were mouring for the loss of so many lives and the disruption of so much more(my aunt works close to the twin tower)
My daughter knows by now she was born Sept 11, but we still have the festivities another day as somehow Sept 11 still represents a sad day for our neighbours, its unfair to ask kids whose parents/aunts/uncles were killed on that day to attend a birthday party. I gave my daughter a Swahili name which means LIFE, as a reminder to us as a family that in the midst of darkness there is still light, while Sept 11 was a day of mass death it was also the day she came into our lives.
We still remember our fallen heroes and we still pray for the families and friends that have to live with the loss of Sept 112001.

I was in Jacksonville, Florida with a friend. I flew there from LA.
We were in shock. I was afraid that I couldn't get home to my family because of the airport situations . But I did. My plane was parked next to Air Force One on my way out to Jacksonville; that was kind of spooky. At the time, I didn't know what was going to happen.
