9/11 was my first day off in a very long time so I decided I would sleep in. but around 9am my Mom came upstairs and woke me up, she had been watching her regular tv shows and they had been interupted by news that a plane had crashed into one of the twin towers. She said "Come downstairs and see the news some plane just accidentally flew into a building in New York City!" So I got out of bed... when we got to the tv the other plane had just hit. My Mom is usually pretty slow, she thought it was the same footage she had seen earlier... she said "look! see the plane hitting the building" I looked at it and saw smoke already coming from the other building and I said "Mom.... that's not the same plane.... another plane just hit the other tower.... just now". She stood there for a minute. And then said "oh.... I don't think this was an accident then."
My Father is a high school Physics teacher, that day he had stayed home sick because he wasn't feeling well. My Mom ran upstairs and woke him up and drug him to the tv to watch what was going on. We all just stared at the tv for a while... then my Mom wondered if someone should go over to the school and get my sister. My Dad said no, because there would probably be alot of parents coming to get their kids... turns out the school didn't even tell the students what had happened until the afternoon. Some Bible salesmen came to our door, my Father always had harbored distain towards door to door salesmen and he answered the door. The men obviously had no idea about the terrorist attacks. My Dad said to them "Don't you know what's happening right now?" and he invited them in to see the news footage then he said "I suggest you go home and pray" And the men said that they would and left right away.
I remember vividly telling my parents that another plane went down in Somerset. That is really close to us cause we're from Pittsburgh. I said they think it was related to the Trade Center and that it was probably headed for the capitol. Flight 93 really hit home for me because it was sooo close. My Mom was calling relatives because I had a cousin that was supposed to be taking a morning flight that day and she was trying to find out if he was ok.

I was 19 when it happened. My mom woke me up to tell me about the first tower being hit. At first I thought it was an accident, until the newspeople were talking about the possibility of a deliberate terrorist attack. I was in the shower when my mom came running in saying a plane hit the second tower. Another memory I have of that morning (oddly) was hearing on the news about a bomb going off at the State Department, which turned out to be false. I'm not sure why that stuck in my head. The rest of the day was a blur for me. I just couldn't comprehend something like that happening. I mean, we all knew something was eventually going to happen to our country, but we never expected it to ACTUALLY happen. I remember being very tired and emotionally worn out that day.

I woke up to my clock radio and the reports on a second plane hitting the trade center. My first thought was it couldn't be real. My second thought was it sounded like the War of the Worlds broadcast. My third thought was to go find a television somewhere and see if it had really happened.

I don't want to wake up to something like that again.

I was at work and I felt numb at first then I was worried about my daughter, I didn't want her to see the pictures without me there to answer her questions. I had many questions of my own. I didn't cry till a week later, I just keep playing the video of the people jumping out of the towers, over and over again in my mind.

I was at work already, and one of my co-workers came in and asked me if I had heard that someone had crashed an airplane into the World Trade Center, and that it had possibly collapsed. I remember thinking it was absurd that such a collision could knock down a building that size, and came immediately to Yahoo to check the news....

I was checking email and had the news on. My husband was out of town on business. He travelled to that building a lot because his company had an office there. Anyway, I ran upstairs to the kitchen to check his itinerary because I couldn't remember where he was. I had never been so relieved to see the words Kansas City in my life.

I'm not an american it was afternoon for us....so when i saw it on tv with my family members we were shocked i know it will be a disaster....these were some of my thoughts at that time:
*We are gonna suffer from this ...and so will americans!
*I'm sure they will all say muslims are terrorists and they did it ...so they are all the same...
*the greatest country stands helpless watching people die.!
*oh poor innocent americans who lost loved ones...and so americans who are muslims who lost people....
*we called all people we know that live in Usa....arabs and muslims told us that police will take them home because they are scared people will harm them...(because they think its their fault)
*this will be a new start that will give Usa the chance to do whatever in the name of fighting terror and playing with the disaster card on all levels....
*God bless all these souls and help people understand whats right and help them through this....
I hope all people be fine :)

I was in English class (grade 10.) My teacher came running to our class and told us what happened. I didn't see the video, I just heard about it, so I didn't think much of it until I got home later that afternoon, when I DID see the video. I thought it was pretty freaky stuff.

I was a senior in high school. We watched it live on channel 1 news. It was unbelievable! All we could do was sit there with our chins on the floor. I decided then I would try to make a difference, so I joined the military.
