Surgery is never really necessary if you are happy with the alternatives.

There are dangerous complications IF OPERATED on. There may be dangerous complications if not operated on.

If you do nothing - possible consequences depend on where the myoma is and if it is truly benign.

It can cause compression from the size - compressing abdomen isn't such a bad thing usually because everything can squash over here and there, but compressing the chest is bad - you might not be able to pump blood with the heart, and you may have difficulties with breathing if it gets this big.

A myoma can tort. It can twist about and if it cuts off its own blood supply, that might not be so bad. It would die - and sometimes this can be very painful and make the patient very sick because of the inflammatory chemicals that go about the body when this happens. If it twists about and gathers stuff up, anything could happen depending on what is twisted up with it (this is a very unlikely occurrence) - eg. bowel - bowel obstruction, blood vessels - ischaemia to whatever the blood vessels were supplying ...

Talk with the doctors and ask them what might happen if you didn't have the surgery.

Also you could consider delaying the surgery.

Generally surgeons like to operate on people who are healthy and the risk of delaying the surgery and getting it done later is that the patient might be unwell at the time and it might be an emergency procedure then. This is much more stressful for the surgeons, the anaesthetists, and for the patient. The patient is more likely to die from a complication of the surgery is an emergency surgery than if it is a planned and booked procedure.

There could be complications. I sure would not like something that big inside of me, especially when it is not needed. I think it could rupture and you can hemorrhage and your life could be at risk. What if it turns cancerous? What about your looks? How old are you, that you don't care about your appearance if you do not take it out? I have a cyst in my uterus, have a big stomach and every time I look in the mirror I feel like ripping it off myself. And what improving your health and quality of life? Think about it. If the operation is not risky, then go for it. I am diabetic and as soon as I get my sugars, blood pressure under control I am hving the opertion.

Your doctor wishes to operate because a myoma that size will eventually put pressure on other organs. Please listen to them and have the operation. The bleeding will come if you do not have it removed.

OF COURSE YES. Any foreign body even benign, need to be extracted from your body. It doesn't belong there. Please see your doctor and discuss your surgery options.
