I have a old NT machine that I would like to make into a router

Yes, you can use NT as a router. You'll need to have at least 2 NICs in the machine. Do keep in mind that NT's routing capabilities are very basic -- strictly RIP and static routes; no IGRP, BGP, etc.

Install Routing and Remote Access Services. If you understand TCP/IP and routing, most of the setup should be fairly obvious from that point onwards. The help system will help somewhat if you're not up on routing.
