Osama is the boogie man for Bush and Cheney. If he's captured, they lose there prime suspect to scare Americans with. Personally, I think he's been dead for a few years. Watch out in Nov 08, Bush will suddently announced that they've captured osama just in time for the elections.

Yes he is alive, he is not likely in afghanstan, likely in the tribal areas Pakastan. He is beloved by his followers, a substantial reward for his capture has not attracted any takers, which is quite impressive. He is being protected and the Pakastani government does not exert any control or governance on the Tribal Areas, think of indian reservations with their own army and loathing of the central government with lots of mountains to hide in.
