Hello everyone! My husband and I are trying to have a baby and I just wondered if anyone could give any advice on when is the best time for intercourse, I know that you need to track ovulation day, but as far as anything else like should you have sex in morning, evening, on that day or before or both... I appreciate any advice, I dont want to ask family or friends because we want this to be a surprise and I dont have a doctors appointment until November, so I am stuck!! Thanks again so much!!

Hi hun, I am also trying to have a second child with my husband. We are using ovulation prediction kits and also charting my basal body temp each morning before I get out of bed(same time each day). There is a wonderful free website that I use and I think you will love it: fertilityfriend.com This site charts everything for you, temp, cervical mucous, symptoms...etc The site also tells you when you ovulate. I hope this helps you and good luck!!

Once you start tracking your ovulation, and you know when to expect it, you should start having sex every two days. There is no evidence that certain times of day are better than others. Most doctors advise against sex every day because the frequency causes the sperm count to drop. Sperm lives for up to 3 days, so every other day covers the missed time. If you aren't tracking ovulation, most doctors recommend having sex the 8th, 10th, 12th, and 14th day after your period begins.

My sister tried to get pregnant, and the method that worked for her is this:

Every day, before she would even get out of bed, she would take her temperature. It should be the same every day. On the day that it is different--higher, lower, doesn't matter--is the day you are ovulating, which should be about two weeks after your period. (But it's different for all women)

During sex, put a pillow under your pelvis to elevate it. After you have sex (time of day is irrelevant), keep your pelvis elevated for about fifteen minutes. Remember, it's harder to get pregnant when you are on top, so use it as an excuse to have him do all the work! lol...And don't stress about it too much...that's the number one reason perfectly healthy couples don't conceive at first. Just have fun and enjoy each other! Good luck to you!

There really is not specific time of day as long as it is at least 3 days before and the day of ovulation. There is a great book call "The Garden of Fertility" that give great info. It may take a couple months to target your ovulation range, but it is worth it.
