Both Kimi and Alonso. Kimi has been at the front whenever his car was working right. His problem is not communication with the team, his problem has been his car. Miscommunication with the team on the car set up results in crashes, not breakdowns. Kimi has suffered breakdowns but not driver mistake crashes.

Alonso has been successful due to a reliable car and a very consistent problem error free driving record as of late, which was also Michael's recipe for success over the past few years. On the F1 broadcast in the US and I would agree, that over the past two seasons Schumi has started to make minor errors here are there during the race which show that he is not as perfect as he used to be. They mentioned that Niki Lauda had made this comment originally.

If it's status quo at Ferrari (i.e. Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne stay), then it could well be Kimi Raikkonen. I think Fernando Alonso is in for a a bit of a lean period at McLaren as the team doesn't have a `name' designer and I can't see McLaren going from no wins (there won't be any in the last three races) this year to a highly competitive team in 2007.
Kimi Raikkonen has made the 2006 car perform much better than a lesser driver would.

Fernando Alonso. Kimi is quicker but he does not have the ability to work with the team the way Alonso can. Alonso will be able to communicate with McClaren and build a team so they can vastly improve the car the way Schumacher did when he came to Ferrari. Lot's of the key people behind the rise in Ferrari's fortune will leave the team now that Michael has retired and Kimi does not have the peronality to rebuild the group.

I don't expect to be a greater dominance of any team or a pilot. Kimi is a great pilot and may be the best after Schumi but McLaren keep developing their car and fix its problems and Renault will not give up the race too (though I doubt Fisi or the new pilot are good enough to compete with Kimi and Alonso).
So I expect Kimi and Alonso fighting for the next year's championship with Massa just interfering :).
I think Kimi is faster than Alonso so if Ferrari do a good job with their car next year, Kimi will be my best bet for the championship winner.

Heikki Kovalinnen! 1)He's with Renault. 2)He's awesome. 3)Alosno going to McLaren was a bad move which he wouldn't have made if Renault had firm plans to stay in F1. 4)Raikkonen is scary fast as long as the car he is driving is scary fast, but I don't think he can make a pretty good car great the way the glorious legend M. Schumacher always did. Although he is great with a heavy fuel load, I must admit.

it's either raikkonen on a ferrari and alonso on mclaren no one else. in the end the entire dominance of formula 1 will depend on who of these 2 drivers will have a better car.

Mostly Kimi Raikonnen, given his speed in a unreliable Mc Laren, Kimi would do very well in a Ferrari

Fernando Alonso, because he's young and he has talent to dominate the series for a long time.
