These ideas have been around for AGES! The book was a recycled mish mash of a load of crap! Please, please, let there be someone else out there who thinks this as well!

By which I mean the Da Vinci Code...not necessarily the theories it was based on.

There are no "new" theories......This is a fictitious novel.... Brown wrote a better one, "Angels and Demons".....Read it and enjoy it.

Why do people get so cranked up about this DaVinci Code stuff. I agree with the questioner, these ideas have been around for ages, centuries. The author has taken some of them and did some twists..so what!!!!......Why do Cardinals wear red?...Maybe purple would be a more appropriate color...Check that one out!!! Thumbs up to the author of this question

The Davinci Code brought those ideas to a wider audience. Even if you don't agree with them (and some are too far out to be believed), the book and movie DO invite discussion and people tend to get a deeper understanding of exactly what they do believe.

For instance:

I quit believing that Jesus was never married when I found out that Jewish boys in that era were married off at the age of 14 or 15. "Rabbi" also means father and you cannot achieve that title without being married at some point.

Does that affect what I believe about Jesus himself? Nope.

Do I think Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene? No. I think it far more likely that Jesus was a widower. A man does not take off on a ministry that he knows will end in his death if he has a wife and children dependent on him. I think it far more likely that he waited until he had no one to begin his ministry. It would explain why he waited until he was 30.

Think about those two points for a while. :)

As a Christian, I know that the book The Da Vinci Code is FICTION! I don't understand what all the hoopla is? I've read it along with other Dan Brown books. They are fiction thriller/mystery's that are meant to entertain.

I agree with you, that theory had been around for a long time, I read about it in the 80's with books from 60's and 70's, however I never believed it was a load of crap.
