you could ask him out right, if he is a nice bloke then he will give it to you.... if you feel embarassed about asking for it back, then send him an email or even a text message.....

Just walk up to him when he's alone, and casually say, "By the way -- do you have that 50 quid I loaned you the other day?" It probably couldn't hurt to let him know that you need it for something important, and that you're not simply busting his chops about it...he probably did the same to you to convince you that HIS need for the money was sincere...

Just go over and ask striaght up, if they make a scene then make sure others know they have borrowed the cash from you, if they canty pay up ask for some of the money a £10 here and there is better than 0

Just ask him polietly for the money he owes you, you dont need excuses, tell him you were glad to help him out and lend it to him but now you would like it back.
I'm sure he'll oblige without a fuss, best if you have other people around you though so that he feels embarrased and doesn't spin you a line about paying you at a later date!

If you feel uncomfortable bringing it up directly you could try a more subtle approach.
Maybe talk about an new CD or DVD and say you would buy it with the 50 quid. (well not all of it unless its a decent box set !)
Good luck

You were kind enough to lend it.I suppose it depends on how long ago it was.If it was a long time ago his memory needs jogging.Start off by saying-"Do you remember the 50 pounds I kindly loaned you can you kindly pay me back today as I urgently need it.If it was fairly recently say I kindly helped you out of a sticky situation and now I am in one myself and urgently need the money today. If he is as nice as you say he is there should not be any problem.

I hate asking for the money someone owes me too. Try to pull him aside (don't say anything in front of anyone else) and tell him the truth. Say that you hate asking for it, but you are short on cash and need the money he owes you.
Good luck!
P.S. It usually isn't as hard as we think it is.

Your going to have to pluck up the courage and ask! it is after all money he owes you.
The chances are he's forgotten and needs reminding.
You don't have to demand it, just a gentle reminder.
Good luck
