wondering what to expect. My daughter will be moving to the spare room so they can share her bunkbeds in her room. I've been cleaning like mad. Should I make a key for each of them or just tell them where the spare is hidden? Does anyone have any experience with this to share?

I was once one in that student exchange situation. Well, I suppose you don't have to over prepare since they are only staying for a few days.. I don't know how many students or what are their genders. But if they are teen boys, I suggest for you to get another room for your daughter. Otherwise, it should be alright :-) heheh. If I were you, I would just not give them any keys and get them to call you beforehand if they are going to be home late or not. Alot of times, while staying with the host family, I tend to go out explore a little bit... call the host family when I should be expected home. If it is going to be late just tell them where the spare is hidden.

they need to be treated like your own kid. They must, without exception, follow your rules!! If you let them come and go as they please and have people into your house, its going to be a horrible experience. If you lock the doors to the house for the night at 11:00pm, for example, they need to be in the house prior to that. If you don't enforce your rules for the week, then you'll be counting down the days until they leave.

Stop cleaning and start writing down what the rules are and what you expect from them while they are in YOUR house. Make sure you spell out that you expect them to clean up their mess, no food in the rooms, etc. etc. etc.
