Can anyone explain primary secondary & tertiary structures of protein to me in simple terms please?

Think of a protein as just a chain of amino acids

primary is just a long line of amino acids

secondary is when those long lines of amino acids start to coil and bend

tertiary is when the amino acid chain is fully folded and is functional

primary is the base chain - what AA the protein is comprised of. secondary structure is the bonds that form. Disulfide bridges etc. tertiary structure is the shape the protein forms as a whole. quatenary structure is the protein in space if it's a dimer, etc.

primary structure is mainly composed of amino acids,,secondary structure is the conformational structure of amino acids such as alpha and beta plate folding....tertiary conformation is still complex structure of proteins which are mainly trimers of primary structures
