you must talk to babies. My sis' 15 month old talks almost fluently [she even ask for CD of her choice, by Album name].And its because we used to talk to her a lot. But my cousin's kid is almost 2 years old, and she dont speak a thing! They are doctors and dont really have time to spend with baby.

You can talk about anything you want, like explain to her what uncle did last time he came home, or something like that. Make sure that you have appropriate emotions on your face :)

Treat them as normal people, not babies :)

Well, I speak to my little guy because he's a person. But then I also speak to my dog. Neither seems to understand me, but both like to hear my voice.

There are many reasons you should speak to your child. A big one is the voice of the parent can sooth the baby. Talking and making sounds comforts your baby -- he or she has been hearing everything you do for months before birth, the sudden ending of those sounds can be a little disturbing.

Another reason is your child will start to imitate those sounds and pick up on what they mean. This obviously takes a very long time, but speak to your child, read to your child, point out what things are and state their name -- all of these things help a child's development.

Basically, you can tell your child anything. Just realize when children learn how to say words they will repeat them. As your child get older, you may want to limit your vocabulary to words that won't be embarrassing when yelled by your child.

well I have not had very good success in talking to babies but I know a few people who do talk to thier babies and I have found that they do it to stimulate the childs brain with conversation so the child doesnt turn out to be a quiet kid as he or she gets older in life.

Infants and toddlers (babies) are very much like sponges...their minds are very susceptible to learning new things. Therefore, mothers and pediatric doctors agree that by talking and singing to these young ones they will be stimulating their brain functions and allowing earlier learning habits....like talking! But most important to remember is that these young minds are also vulnerable to all materials, audible and visual, impressed in these young brains!

This is supposed to be done. The more a baby is talked to and read to the better his mental development.

The more you talk to the child and read aloud to the child, the faster their language skills will develop.
