Because the U.S Gov. can not put tax on it, you can grow marijuana any where. get more facts on marijuana, go to mpp.org.
and it has been proven that it doesn't destroy your brain cells.
and the tar in marijuana dose not cause cacer in humans.
check out the site, mpp.org. and go to health effects.
and besides, there are NO hospital reports in the world that any one has ever over dose on marijuana, or died from it.

I have been an addiction counselor for over twenty years. I have seen lives totally ruined by prolonged marijuana use. Back in the early sixties, the US had mistakenly explored the option of legalizing the drug. The BIGGEST lobbyist against it was the Swedish Government. They had legalized it several years previously and told of all the problems it had caused in there society. And that was with very "low grade" pot (less than 7% THC). The stuff they have today is stronger. THC coats the brain cells (up to 400 times thicker) and prevent synapses from working effectively. Also, marijuana smoke contains more than three times the carcinogen of tobacco smoke. Despite all the rumors and legends, there are NO medical benefits of marijuana use. Personally, I have a friend who lost a great paying job, two farms and a going business... all because he got to the point where he just didn't give a damn (amotivational syndrome). Need any further reasons?

In Elizabethan times twas illegal not to grow hemp if you owned a certain amount of land, great for making rope for the Navy. Its illegal because.......alcohol is socially acceptable, spliff alas is not, as with lots of other drugs that the Government dont want us to use, they have no control over the supply, they would be better off legalising it, controlling suppply and quality, taxing it etc but it wouldnt play well with the Daily mail/Torygraph middle classes, give it a few more years, when the nation wakes up to the binge drinking and harmful effects of booze, you only need to look at any A&E deprtment on a weekend to\see the harmful effects of legalised drugs, yes they say it can cause mental heath problems, so does alcohol, how many incidents of spousal abuse are as a result of a spliff compared to alcohol? How many days are lost to the economy because of a phat joint as compared to alcohol? Prohibition sucks, thanks America for giving us that and organised crime, what would we do without em hey? pass the rizla......

Because its a hallucinogen that causes very heavy smoke which is very dangerous to those with breathing conditions, in some cases fatal.
Cigarettes are just dirty and grose (plus all the other factors most people already know) But, Marijuana can also mentally hurt people, espeacially children. People smoke cigarettes around their kids and if marijuana was legal more people would smoke it around children.
Not to mention, a marijuana "joint" is as bad for you as 10 cigarettes. And if the government could afford it they'd ban tobacco. They tried to ban alcohol in the 1900s but there was such an uproar they decided to allow it again.

it has been labeled a drug, the government said so, end of story. It is the price we pay for being able to vote, join political parties and not be scared for our lives if we share our ideas with the man slicing our lunch meat.
Maybe you want technical answers? Well it does slow reflexes and impair judgement?
Is it right, wrong? Who am I to say. Everyone can only speculate on the results if it were made legal.

they can control it. they tried it with alcohol, but just about anyone in there own home can make it. pot takes a season to grow, there's a smell, its not too easily hidden as alcohol etc. i think it has most to do with profit than anything else

Long term use is harmful. Maybe it should be legal I don't know but it is really bad for you. I know alcohol can be too but marijuana always makes you real high. Marijuana makes men less virile and they lose sperm count. Brain cells are impaired.
