I'm in the same boat as your guy. Although, I consider myself bi. I have no attraction to pure gay men whatever, and in fact I am attracted to women as your average hetero man. Yes, very very normal. I think that although you say "man on man" sex does not interest him, the fact that the men in such movies somehow "recode" themselves so that a man reads them as "non-male" somehow makes the taboo homosexual act safe, and allows your friend, and many other males like him to, to enjoy the homosexual act.
