Planning a budget has to be very systematic.
First you need to list down your regular expenses like travelling fare, food cost, monthly household bills (if you are paying them), if you are with your parents then how much you plan to give them, etc. Then you need to plan an amount for your future savings. Say you can keep aside 2000 aside (perhaps in a bank). It will be more easy if you consider your salary as 8000 instead of 10K so that automatically you save 2K. And use your 8K judiciously. Shop for clothes once in every 4 months. And keep a check on your savings. When your savings reach 10K make a bond or FD so that you can earn interest on it. When you get an increment - increase your savings from 2K to 3K and keep more cash in your hand to possess purchase power and soon your standard of living will raise. Within a year and half you will be able to lead pretty decent life-style.
