The egg came first, because precursor species to the chicken were laying them millions of years before actual chickens came along. Eventually, something a bit more like a chicken hatched from one of those eggs.

It depends on if you're a believer or an atheist. If you're a believer the chicken came first. If you're an atheist, chickens and eggs are made up in the minds of poultry lovers and neither really exist.

i encounter this question most often . neither egg nor hen came first . idealism says at first God created universe then other creatures. materialism says : at first therte was only matter. then matter evolved and develooted . please study phylosophy and evolution.
