I wear "spaghetti strapped" tops to work, but I wear an unbuttoned oxford blouse or something similar over it. I work in a newspaper office that has a pretty casual dress code, but even so, I don't think that the "barely there" look is really appropriate except in some of the environments that the other answerers have mentioned. The whole point of a dress code is to ensure that workers put forth the image that they are the ones who can get the job done right- and if you look like you put very little time and effort into your clothing, it can be very off-putting to a potential customer or client. The link below has some tips on how to dress femininely at the office without being inappropriate. Hope this helps! :)

it all depends what sort of work you do if you are working in a retirement home then it best not to but, if it's an office then why not strappy top can look stmart but at the same time are the best thing to wear in summer as they keep you cool. If you are really worried ask your boss see what they have to say, it may be a case of you are the only person brave enough to get the shoulders out.

It depends on where you work - for most places its not acceptable but then if you work in a funky type place like a general fashion shop that sells them its probably ok - we have a mechanics business and I wear them in Summer as our factory gets VERY hot in the Summer and none of the customers seem to mind. If you work in an office or a call centre or somewhere like a Drs office then no it wouldnt be seen as acceptable.

Uhhh nope, I don't! Even if it is allowed (Check your dress code again) It is never appropriate to show too much skin in the office. I would get a really cute blazer to wear over it or a nice thin weave good cashmere sweater... something cute.
It is wrong and it is the reason YOU are the ONLY on doing it.

If you work in a fashion industry, public relations or advertising I guess it is okay. It also depends on your management, so if you are new, you might want to check with your colleagues first. My suggestion is to wear a shrug (really short sweater-like top that only covers your shoulder and/or part of your bosom). It is fashionable, very in right now and modest at the same time.

So long as your bra straps are NOT showing, the top is NOT low cut, and you have a sweater to wear over them if need be, it's fine.

I don't think that is very appropriate, unless they are worn under a jacket. You have to remember that what you wear sends a message, especially to your employers. Those type of tops don't indicate a serious or professional approach to work. You maybe very skilled, but no one willl not know that as they will be more interested in what you are inadvertently showing.
peace.

I often wear tops like that to work but I work in a very casual office. If your office is very formal then it may not be appropriate, only you can judge how formal your work environment is.
