I have wondered this for quite a while...we pay tribute to all those brave souls who gave their lives to try and recover people on 9/11, and personally, i CANNOT imgaine what those people were thinking as they jumped out of the WTC as a means of escape, but---does ANYONE remember the crewmembers who were up there, doing their jobs, and were the first point of attack for these terrorists??? I dont think anyone has ever made a point to remember them--I always think of them, I am a flight attendant for American Airlines.........

Carrie, as I sit here right now watching the real time replay of the events of 9-11-01 unfold on MSNBC, I can't help but want to give you a hug. Sounds a bit trite I know, but just so you do know, my heart has always -and still does- go out to EVERYONE who lost their lives on that day. I have often thought of the crew of those flights who actually knew what was coming for several minutes or seconds before it happened. Horrible. You are a brave person. Keep your head up.

Just over the pas few months both History, Discovery Channel and A&E aired some wonderfuld documentries about the Flight Attendences who called in and described what was going before the planes rammed into the towers. I think of Beatty Ong who in the last hours phoned in to describe where and what was going on. Or the Flight Attendences on UA93 who turned thier serving carts, made hot water into weapons. I find those stories interesting. On I think of Flight 77 which rammed into the Pentagon and those innonence children on board. But family members, husbands, sisters have spoken of the wonderful things of thier love ones and what they did. Mostly I learn of who they are.

I cant imagine anyone would think of jumping from the 80th floor as a means of escape. Some may have been driven to do it by the flames, some may have chosen that death in order to give their families a body to bury. As for the flight attendants, they will always be remembered as the first victims of this attack.

Of course - when people speak of heroes on 9/11 - it includes everyone - not only flight crews, firefighters, and police officers - but even regular civilians who reached out a hand and helped others out of the building - and those who bonded with strangers to bring down a flight (crew included) - and those who worked tirelessly and without pay to bring bodies home for burial and return NY/Wash/Pen to a sense of normalcy during the clean up. Let not your heart be troubled - Jason Dahl was a pilot on 93 - he was from Denver - where I lived at the time. I think of him and his family often.

I believe all who died that day are remembered. However good point that they are not singled out as the rest are.
And your question brings up another. What about those who took the calls from the people in the planes? I cannot begin to wonder what they have to live with EVERYDAY. How did this affect their lives? Just a thought.

Since you are a flight attendant, you should know that there is no way some "Saudi terrorists" could've gotten on the planes yet not appear on any of the flight manifests or passenger lists from that day.
At this point and faced with the documented evidence

I don't know about the rest of the country but New York mourned for every life and honored every life. However the most nationwide tribute to the flight crew was to the flight that crashed in that field in Pennsylvania.
Thanks for thinking about them.

I remember ALL those who lost their lives, on all the flights, in the Towers and at the Pentagon.
The loss of every person who died on 9/11 needs to be remembered.
Fly safe!

sure we do, I'm sure people think about all the lives sadly lost that day. but it's not like a competition or anything. it's not like during the minutes silence we allocate 40 seconds to firefighters 15 seconds to world trade employees and whatever is left they can share between the crew and passengers on the flights.

I asked everyone to remember everyone who lost loved ones 5 years ago today on Yahoo asks.....that includes ALL of those who lost thier lives. I watched those towers fall that horrible day...I cried and still do every time I see those towers fall on T.V...My husband flies alot...I will never forget therefore, I will always remember... I'll never quite get over the feeling. I think that day effected more people than most people think...I knew no one lost that day and still my heart aches at the memory of it....
