There is no proof that any god has ever existed, it is all in the minds of deluded and probably insane individuals, not so long ago people who said god had spoken to them were locked up now they are the president and prime minister of so called civilised countries, more people have been killed in the name of so called gods and religion than all other causes combined

Wow, Considering these questions asked for intelligent answers I'm surprised how many people got so touchy. I guess it shows that our species is really where it is in the world today because of such people...
Well the point I'm trying to make is that there is no real way to prove 'God' scientifically. Using holy scriptures is not a fool-proof way to prove such an existence either since (I'm pretty sure you know) that such stories have been retold over and over again and get distorted.
The only way for us to really come to a sense of such a thing, would have to be the touchy people and the rest of us to expand our paradigm to the point where we could comprehend what a creator is. That means our culture and society has to evolve first.
That also includes moving beyond the scriptures and
not be followers, but we should be here to set examples. Only through experience may we one day find out the answer to that question.

God isn't just part of the Bible- God is a diety of life- you don't have to be Christian and read the bible to believe in god.
You also don't need to always prove things exist- for example, apparently the amount of money known as £1,000,000 exists. I myself cannot fathom it, it seems an impossible amount to someone like me, but it makes sense that it would exist. I have to believe it exists even though no one has ever shown in to me and it's unlikely I will ever seen it for myself. But there is evidence it exists, I see people with big houses, posh cars, amazing jewellry- so it must exist. I also see small miracles everyday- the birth of a baby for example, I see people doing good things for eachother, and I feel that I am more than just an animal on a small lonely planet- and so I know there is God.
We see evidence of God all the time, just because it is conceived he is a man with a grey beard floating in the sky and you don't see this- then it is said he doesn't exist. God is all around you, God is energy, God brings life. Whether you see him or not is your perception of it all.
Yes the Bible was manmade- why should that make it less important? It is a book of wonderful stories that we should relate to our lives- try and learn some lessons. Sure, some of it is outdated, some is not really applicable to modern life- but it was written thousands of years ago. Just because it is manmade does not make it ridiculous- many amazing things are also manmade but relay the messages we need.
With reference to what others have said- God doesn't allow good or bad things happen- it's just part of life. He never once said that he would do this in the Bible, he said he would give us free will. If you believe God created earth and nature then he gave it free will, and things like that just happen. It seems unfair, and such an awful thing happened to me once that I wondered why I had been forsaken- but it really isn't the case. We are not punished.
Also, there is no heaven or hell or purgatory- there is just the spiritual plane. no one is segregated- no matter how bad you may have been on the earth plane- but you will find it harder to adjust to your new life and you will have to be responsible for the things you have done. Whether you believe or not is completely inconsequential- it will happen to you. It's a bit like saying you don't believe in death.

yes- several years ago when I was travelling in the middle east I met a man called 'Smeg of swazlacki'. He clearly proved that god existed as he spoke with the knowledge of three men and possibly one camel. We laughed and had such a joyous time that I had no doubt that he was probably the living proof that there is more to life than just school, work and death. I now know that there is also an abundance of satellite TV stations to break up the monotomy.

Jill Patton Walsh addresses this point in her novel 'Knowledge of Angels' - a really excellent read that debates this question through a story of a foreigner on a strange island and a feral child found raised by wolves. Sounds bizarre but give it a try - I'm not religious at all and found it really absorbing. She purposely doesn't answer the question definitively but she manages to make thousands of insightful points both for and against the existance of (a) god.

Ask a Deist to prove God's existence. The followers of Deism
believe in God, but not in the bible or any religious books. You won't get "unprovable Bible speak" from them.
For more details on Deism go to:

god is just a name for people to use, like budda or alla, etc. We only use 10% of our brain and can't understand the concept of creation or what "God" really is. It's just too much for us to comprehend. But every one needs guidelines to live so the bible was made. Every culture has their own guidelines and ideas therefore each have their own idea of a "Bible".
Please read the book JOURNEY OF SOULS by Micheal Newton, Ph.D. It's not a story, but a documentary of a Doctor who found some answers to the question of creation.
One of the high lites on the back cover is,"The purpose of life and manifestations if a "creator".
Read the book ,you may find your answer there.

In my opinion, proof exists in everything we do and see. For example, look at humans, or any animal for that matter. For the EXTREMELY complex functions that take place every second to have come about without intelligent design is nearly impossible. It is often said that it is the equivalent of a tornado go through a junkyard and when it was all over a jumbo jet sat there from pieces that randomly came together. It took thousand of computers to even begin to understand the complexity of the human genome and even now we just barely understand it. So, there you have it, my opinion.

I think you ought to include all religious texts, not just the Bible...
I'd just like to add a little something from Douglas Adams (THHGttG).
"The argument goes something like this: 'I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, 'because proof denies faith, and without faith, I am nothing'. 'Ah,' says Man, 'But the Babel Fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and therefore by your own arguments, you don't. QED.' 'Oh dear' says God, 'I hadn't thought of that' and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. 'Well, that was easy' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white, and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing."
Douglas Adams is God. QED.

No-one has.
But heres a thought. If there was no God, then how did this world come into existance? If you say Big Bang, how was the big bang created? Who was the first man on earth? If you say Adam, then you MUST "believe" that he was the first man to walk on earth, but can you prove it without referencing to any man-made bible story?
If you do not say Adam, then who was the first to walk this planet? Don't tell me we were monkeys before this!! if thats the case - how come monkeys don't give birth to humans anymore??
(sorry, but im just having a good laugh at my response!)
