I am a sarcastic person...So I can relate. I think you have to learn who can handle it and who can't. I have friends that can't handle it at all. So I avoid it. I also had to learn when it was appropriate. A lot of that came with age. At work it is not appropriate...to people you do not know..it's not appropriate. I think with good or best friends it should always be appropriate because, well with me, that is part of my personality and a good friend excepts you for who you are. The good, the bad, and the ugly. But on the other side of that...you also have to learn what is okay to joke about or to be sarcastic about. You can't be insensitive, you always have to take into account who you are talking to and what you are being a smarta#@ about...because some comments will hurt anyone. Like weight, death, rape, religion...those are just a few touchy subjects.

is looking witty worth the potential harm caused by your biting comments? that's the question i ask myself before spouting out something "funny" that's really probably hurtful. work on learning how to be witty some other way - sarcasm usually makes the person talking look small and bitter.
