Wars are almost always fought over resources and accumulation of those resources.

Frequently the leaders will cite "bigger" or more altruistic reasons to try and convince their followers that the violence is justified.

Osama does it using an adulterated interpretation of the Qur'an. Motivation in that case is a combination of extreme poverty combined with the ability to see (via media, internet) how much material wealth the "infidels" have been able to accumulate. That results in a pathologic degree of jealousy and hatred. Our leadership (I cannot even call it Bush, because he is but a puppet manipulated by Cheney/Rove and other unseen masters of the Republican Party) is trying desperately to convince the American Public that somehow this "action" is justified, but it seems very transparent to me that it is for the oil. Try and look at it from their point of view. This all powerful nation is there to loot and use the ONE resource they have, as if the horrific poverty and lack of infrastructure is not enough, this is a tremendous insult to them. They feel utterly emasculated and impotent to correct what they see as wrong, and will take any means to alleviate their anger.

The use of the word terrorists is interesting. Was the Trojan Horse a terrorist act? Was the guerilla tactics used by the colonists against the British redcoats a terrorist act? Was the genocide perpetrated by the US government against the native people a terrorist act? Remember that 95% of government, and probably 98% of what they let the public see is smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand.

Three thousand or so died at the WTC. Forty seven thousand or more die in motor vehicle accidents in this country every year, approximately half of them due to drunk driving. Why is that not made public enemy number one?

No american leader bases his decisions on God, we are far from religious fanatics- and as far as I know Bush hasn't killed a single person.

Neither kill. They have other people kill for them.
The first one does it for big oil.
The second one does it for religion.
