Will PS3's be able to play PS2 games?

Meaning all of the PS games, including the original PS games and PS2 games will work on PS3.

It will also support CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. Sony also confirmed that the machine will be backward compatible all the way to the original PlayStation. It will also have slots for Memory Stick Duo, an SD slot, and a compact flash memory slot. It will also sport a slot for a detachable 2.5-inch HDD, somewhat similar to the Xbox 360's. Sony did not mention if the drive would be standard.

Sorry mate, yet its surely the before version of the ps3 80gb that performs ps2 video games the only with 4 usb slots, you need to have the more recent version of the 80 gb ps3 that has 2 usb slots, if so as that version does no longer play ps2 video games, besides the undeniable fact that it does play ps1 video games, wish i helped.

As a general rule, most are backward compatible. Can I say "yes!" with certainty? Unfortunately not. I would guess most will, however, some may not.
