It is a dime to nickel size mole it is round shaped. How do they check it out? And do they send it in to s ee if it is cancerous?

well, first they will just look at it. if it looks odd in any way, they will biopse it, just take a little piece with a needle and send that out. if its cancerus, then they will remove it and you might need some additional treatment. good luck!!

Your primary care physician should look at it and refer you to a dermatologist if he thinks it looks cancerous. The doctor will visually check three things, size, color and the border of the mole. Sometimes they will use a small magnifying glass to get a closer look. The doctor can tell by looking if it appears cancerous. If it looks suspicious, they will do a biopsy which can be done in the office. Numbing solution is injected under the mole and it is removed with a razor blade. You'll have your results in just a few short days.

When you go to the derm they look your body over and if they see a "suspicious" mole they remove it and send it off to a lab for diagnosis. If it is cancerous or precancerous (or something else dangerous) they will come back to the site and cut a large perimiter around where the mole was to get all of the cells for sure.

The physician can check it and send it for Biopsy ( to take a small part from the mole for testing) After biopsy they can decide what is that.

When I went, they just removed it and then did the byopsy... no point going under the knife twice.. The needles hurt like the devil though..YOW... Mine was on my back upper left shoulder.
