Yesterday, I really didn't do much besides watch TV. After dinner I took my two girls for a walk and then when my son got home, I watch and played with them outside. I thought to myself how much I enjoy being with my kids like that and was frustrated that I had wasted the day watching television.
I started to think about all the other times I watch television instead of doing something else and wonder what keeps me from turning it off. It seems that in almost every other instance I do what is most enjoyable at the time (ex. Sitting in a plush chair instead of a hard one) but what is it about Television that is different?
Is it a form of functional sleeping or resting? Is it because it is something the whole family can do (since we are different ages) or is it because it is easy to do? Or is it something sinister?

Actually, television is very addictive. Sometimes, unconsciously, your body is just very tired and you automatically just walk over to the chair and sit down and look at television which easy entertainment. It is just your subconscious that kicks in. Once you take that seat, your body just starts feeling heavy because it's so relaxed and it becomes difficult to find the energy to get up and get moving. It is the same for a lot of people so it is normal, there is nothing wrong with you.

A lot of times if the tv is on you just get sucked into whatever is playing. We leave the tv off most of the time at my house unless we really plan to just watch tv because we'll just end up watching it otherwise. It keeps your mind on that and not other things you want to do.

Mostly we all just watch because it's there.

We went on holiday in our little caravan a few weeks back. It rained mostly and we were confined to the caravan. We did not miss the TV one little bit but did enjoy chatting and reading it was one of best holidays we have ever had.

However what was the first thing we did when we arrived home?..Yes on went the telly. No more chatting or reading I suppose till our next holiday.

Enjoy your kids and time you have playing with them. They will remember that when they get older but not the telly.

I think we watch TV because it's a habit & because it dulls our minds so we can shut down.

After my daughter was born each week we picked 2 days of
"no television". We would read, play games, or just talk. After 20 years we still do it and we're a very close family.

You had a lazy day. Don't worry about it. Everyone does. Don't overanalyze it. When our kids were young we did the same thing sometimes.
