Stanley...try this one: Because "public" "relations" is about people...pitching your product and services via a Communication channel. Even in the machine-to-machine case, communications (defined as sending and receiving your message) is the requirement.

I am sorry but clearly this is a DAH moment! Suggest constructing the counter argument "Why communications are not important to public relations?" and see how far you can get.

Communication is essential in public relation because if the public are not aware of what is going on around them they might be living in a diffuse world. Like the middle ages, the declination of civilization.

In public and community relations, you must identify your target market and/or audience and effectively communicate with it in order to achieve your desired result. Communication is the core principle of public relations!
