It's getting into cold/flu season. You are probably just getting a cold. If you run a fever for more than a day or so, then you might consider going to the doctor, but use your brain. If it seems like a cold, nothing he can give you is going to make it go away any faster.

Strep is easy to spot. If you're getting white/grey/yellow patches on the back of your throat and/or on your tonsils, then you definitly need to go to the doctor. If no spots, no strep, wait it out.

If you have swollen glands and a sore throat you should go to the doctor whether you are pregnant or not.
You could have an infection and need anti-biotics. It could just be a virus in which case he will tell you to rest and drink warming drinks to soothe your throat.
Sometimes glands can swell through stress too, so I suggest you take it easy either way.

Good luck with your pregnancy and get well soon.

There is the possibility you have strep throat. I had it the one and only time I've ever had it when I was pregnant with my first child. It's no big deal. Go to your gyne and she/he will prescribe you an antibiotic if he/she feels it is strep throat. Better to go to a gyne though rather than a general practioner because the gyne is up on the latest information as to what is safe for a pregnant woman to take.

I am 21 weeks, 3 weeks ago I had the same thing turns out it was strep. DR prescribed Zithromax and I felt better in 24 hours. Dont wait too long you could become dehydrated, I did and had to stay at the hospital for 3 hours receiving IV fluids.

You've probably got a bug that you would've had anyway.
Having had 3 children, i would advise that you speak to your midwife, as some bugs are harmful to pregnant women.
Sounds like it could be just a sort throat, tonsillitus at worst though, just ring the midwife and then you can stop stressing, or see your gp.
If you're in the UK, call NHS direct or go on their website, they may help too

I had the same thing when I was 15 weeks pregnant. Turned out that I had tonsilitis, but when I went to the doctor he told me that htere was no need to be concerned unless I got a very high fever. He told me to take paracetamol and it was all fine.

You probably caught some kind of cold virus and should be fine in a few days. But when pregnant it never hurts to consult your Dr. At the very least he/she can offer some tips to you on how to relieve your symptoms, plus reassure you a little bit too.

If your throat seems to have white flecks which may be infection then see your GP or call your midwife for advise.

If you have ahigh temperature paracetamol taken as per instructions is Ok but you are best to ask. You could always ask for a phone consultation.

Rest and drink cool fluids and try to relax.

Sounds like you've picked up a virus. See the doctor and get some antibiotics for it.

It's not likely to affect the baby but better to be safe than anything else.

If you're worried, call your doctor. You may not need to go in to see him, but he can tell you what to do. Get a list of meds that are safe to take and get plenty of rest.
