I agree with you, wholeheartedly, there seem to be people who actually thrive on hate. I doubt, however, that there is any simple or all inclusive reason why this is so. It can stem from anything from some insult to learned behavior to a personality problem. It would be ideal if hatred could be eradicated, but it's not very realistic to think that it will be. The best anyone can do is work hard to avoid being seduced by those who suffer from it, and to guard against letting anger graduate to hate.

Since 9/11 and the the total rift in our belief as to Bush's leadership. His use of organized religion in government, His constant flip flops and mis-management of the war.
We are a people divided and angry. I believe we, as Americans, are almost as far apart as we were during the Civil war . To many of us, each new step of our Government takes us further into chaos. Others agree with with the government. Accusations and denials run at fever pitch.
It won't stop until the Bush Administration steps back and out and we get some stable leadership who puts our Country first and works to heal the rifts, rather than creating world unrest and international hatred.

Hate can be defined as the hatred of one person by another -- or the belief that another person is less than human -- because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person.
It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes. That doesn't make it right, but it does unfortunately form part of our make-up.
Is there an end to it, if we can all live in a Utopian society where everyone is equal, probably. Can you see that happening? I can't.

that's a great question,, I think we hate when we don't know what else to do, when we feel frustrated,, or feel like there has been an injustice,, when we feel helpless, we reach out and want to blame someone or something,, we want someone else to hurt as much as we do so we hate.. sometimes we hate others sometimes we hate ourselves.
Hate and anger are easy emotions,, they are easy to throw up and out when you don't want to face the real issues. I know that if we could ever figure out how to take the energy from hate and anger and turn it to good things in the world would be so different but I have no idea how we would ever do that.

Hate, being intense dislike for someone is different from clearly pointing out the wrong things that someone does. Just because a person points out what is wrong, does not mean they hate the person doing the wrong thing.
Sometimes people accuse others of hating in order to change the subject from their own wrong behavior.
It is very important to point out what is wrong, so that people are not mislead and there can be corrections made to wrongs being done to people.

Hate is a human trait brought about by anger. Anger is a human emotion that comes from our fight or flight response to danger. Its actually a valuable emotion that helped humans to survive throughout our evolution. As a species we aren't that far removed from our stone age ancestors. In terms of evolution, we are exactly the same as them in fact. Until that changes or we kill ourselves off, there will always be hatred and violence.

you can get out of the habit of hating. I have not hated anyone for a few years now and i get up anyone if i ever hear anyone say hate. Its a bad word. We cant do anything about these people, but we can change things from where we are

I know this sounds stupid, and simplistic, and ignorant, but - can't it really be this simple??
Hatred is WRONG. It is divisive; a product of ignorance.
Let's all LEARN. Find one another interesting instead of hateful.
It is truly a lovely world.
WHY can't we ALL agree to share it, and protect it?
Greed is WRONG.
Knowledge and information; open minds, can heal.
