in some other way? I, personally, think it is by having sex. I don't think if a girl accidentally ruptures her hymen that she is no longer a virgin. What do you guys think?

Actual virginity is not ever having had intercourse. Some women are born without a hymen or have it damaged by some other means and are virgins and some women who are sexually active still have a hymen simply due to having elastic and stronger tissue. It's about the sex, or lackl of it, not the membrane.
Some even consider a woman a virgin if she has never willingly had sex, so that a rape victim would be a virgin. Not a traditional view, but certainly a compassionate one.
We had this debate freshman year in college back in the dark ages. We ended up calling the local hospital and getting a ruling from the OB/GYN resident on call. He said it meant "no sex."

You mean that if you break you cherry doing sports, you think that you're not a virgin? Nah, that's like wrong.
The only way that you're not a virgin is to have a man's penis stuck in your vagina. Vaginal sex. Then you're definitely NOT a virgin.
