Destiny refers to a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural order to the universe.
A sense of destiny in its oldest human sense is in the soldier's fatalistic image of the "bullet that has your name on it" or the moment when your number "comes up."

I think that God gave man free will, and that Destiny as we know it refects our realization that our choices have taken us to a place that God knew we would reach, because he trusted our potential.
