it means you can use your phone also as an mp3 player. most of these phones have a memory card that you can use to transfer the songs too. the max right now is around 1 GB. you can usually make playlists, shuffle and things that a normal ipod can do. but don't expect fancy features like FF and REW, and the volume controls are sometimes tricky. but definitely get the phone with the mp3 player... so you only have to carry around one "gadget".. get the one with the camera too. I currently have motorola's E815 phone/mp3/camera and it's great. I use the mp3 player and it sounds great with headphones.

oh, and get the headphones that allow to switch back and forth between the music and your phone calls. so if you are listening to your mp3s and you get a phone call, the music will stop and you just have to press a button on the headphone cord to receive your call. when your call stops, let the other party hang up and the music will continue

that's an already installed application on ur phone that can play Mp3 files and enable u to make playlists and supports playback
