It's just human nature I guess. People are rarely satisfied with their lives or what they have. It seems like everyone always wants more, bigger, better. I personally have learned the hard way that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.I'm at a point in my life where I'm basically happy with my quiet simple life. It takes a while to get there. It seems like people in general always think someone else has what they want. The key is to go after what you want and get it for yourself. Hope this makes sense to you.

I am not sure if I understand your question. But if I guess right, for some people coming from poor communities may think going outside their community they will be open to more resources than they have in poor communities. And in most cases, the grass is greener on the other side. I hope this is what you were referring to.

It all revolves around hope---hope for a better life. We get used to our environment, and then we become dissatisfied with it and want to move on, hoping to have new experiences, make new friends, get a better job, have a better education and living environment for our children, ect, ect, ect. It boils down to never being content with what God has provided us. We are all guilty of it---moving on to find something better. There is no great harm in this unless it becomes a regular habit. There comes a time when a person needs to settle down and make a permanent home. Americans seem to be the least likeliest people in the world to do this, which is why the real estate market is always booming somewhere. As a people we still have not rid ourselves of that pioneering spirit of "Go West, young man, go West!"

There are so many reasons for someone to think that the grass is greener on the other side that it would be hard to pick just one answer.

What one community sees working for another may not work for them, in the long run and they are back where they started.

on the only part, the grass is switched over into animal protein (ideally, BBQ Rib-eye) and loved with a pitcher of red wine; passing by the digestive device, getting into the bloodstream, and finally attaining the mind to form ideas. on the different part, the greener grass (to some) is switched over into smoke and rapidly inhaled; passing by the lungs, getting into the bloodstream, and immediately intoxicating the loser's dopehead. Lay off the weed! ... Like they say: "The grass is greener the position you water it! ... stay centred; initiate taking more desirable proper care of your own backyard." .

Maybe because you have to mow the grass on your side and wonder how the other dude keeps his so neat. The thing is, that guy was out there mowing his grass yesterday.

Because we are never satisfied with what we have and are always trying to find other things that might satisfy you...but guess what? We never are!
