I was in the Navy stationed at Stuttgart Germany. It was almost 3 o'clock there and I was about to go home. I heard about the first plane hitting the tower and just thought that it was a careless pilot who crashed the plane but as I sat there and watched in horror as the second plane hit the tower, I became afraid, helplessness became over me. I froze. I called family friends to make sure everyone was o.k. As I woke up this morning and watched the news, I became afraid again. The thought of something like that happening to us and it can very well happen again, frightens me. We as Americans need to know that we are not safe. The government will try to protect us, but like everything nothing is perfect there are cracks out there that someone can get through and it will happen again. But when it does we will be prepared. So we needs to pray for those that we lost and provide safety for those who are still here.

I had dropped the kids off and school and came back home to get ready for work. I was getting dressed and saw the first tower on fire with smoke spilling out every where, I thought it was a movie and I had the TV on the wrong channel. I was in total and complete shock when I realized that it wasn't a movie, that it was really happening. After that I don't remember how I even got to work, the day was a blurr after that.

I was at work and my wife called me after the first tower hit and they still thought it was a autopilot malfunction. While she was talking to me she was watching as the second tower was hit. It was surreal. We had a 9 month old at home and she was just hugging him.
I was the manager at work so I needed to make all sorts of decisions on how we were going to proceed for the rest of the day. We called it an early day and sent everyone home. The next week was a lot of soul searching for all the employees .

I was sitting in the living-room. I had just started a new journal and it was a nice day. I had the t.v. on (not really watching) and the news break came on. I looked up and was confused, then shocked, then heartbroken!! I'll never forget that day.

At the time I was an armored guard and I was out on my route when me and my partner heard the news at one of our stops. Then I got on the phone and called my parents and my little boy. I remember having this overwhelming need to just get to them. Something inside kind of grabbed hold and I thought about all of the people I cared about and loved and I just wanted to surround myself with them like a blanket. It was all incredibly surreal.

Yes! I was at work sitting in this very same chair looking at the very same computer screen! I was on CNN and all the stuff about the towers being hit by planes came on and I was telling everyone who came into our law firm what was happening! All those people remember ME when they remember 911!! hee

My husband had a doctor's appt in Kansas City and we were getting ready to hit the road. He was taking his kids to school and they initially thought it was some farmer who got lost or something. And then the second plane hit.
My first thought? Holy sh*t.

I was a freshman in high school, taking standardized tests in homeroom. My homeroom teacher had to leave and another teacher came in to finish the class. We had finished the tests and she said something was happening in Washington, D.C. (she didn't know about the towers, rather tower). She turned on the t.v. and they replaying the first tower crash over and over. Then we saw the second plane hit, it was surreal.

i was in 8th grade in my music class.. at the time, i didn't have a strong initial reaction, because i wasn't aware of the gravity of what had happened. to be honest, i didn't know what the world trade center was.. it wasn't until watching the news all that next week, and the week after, and the week after, that i really realized what had happened.
