i say romance novles are onley good for starting fires with!,i like adventure books,the lord of the rings are good if you don't have a short attention span like me:)
going from favret down,

a sereis of unfortunant events = lemony snicket

oliver twist = charles dickens

the time machine = H.G wells

the chronicles of narnia = C.S.(Clark Staples) Lewis

the pilgrims progress = john bunyan

heidi = johanna spyri

animal speak by ted andrews.........it was the first book i bought when i began my spiritual journey (although i had no idea at the time) its a wonderful book that i have turned to time and again over the past decade. i highly recommend it
