I'm a graphic design student who has to design a CD/album cover.
But I'm stumped. Apart from metal (dark metallic or demonic images) or Girl/Boy pop (pink or blue, with the artist photo's on) what else can I do?
So I'd like to know, what type of music do you listen to, and what images do you associate with this? Please be clear so I can get a good understanding.

Didn't really answer your question, but I hope it's a bit helpful.
(P.S - if you're doing it as an assignment, try not to be too obvious - handing in a cover with a burning goat's head for a metal album won't get you many marks for creativity. )

Listen to the music and let it guide you. Look at albums that moved you and try to see any connection between the music and the cover - don't make a direct connection! No! It has to encapsulate the essence of the music, the blood, the spirit. Think of making a whole package with the music and image of the performers and your visuals making a complete experience. To name individual covers would be silly because they might mean everything to me (Hat full of Hollow because I'd just broke up with my first girlfriend, oops, I guess I have named one!). Relax, let it roll over you and have a pad an a few pens nearby. Pick up the mood, then do your job which is to let the rest of us see it.

All types of music, but Al Green touches the heart with his song always and forever. I think a good album cover for this song is a guy waking remembering his dream and looking at the lady knowing she was not just a dream.

I listen to hot, loud rock, so a burning guitar is always a good image

i listen to linkin park so i would say go with a grafitti skateboarder tagging style with words written in spray paint. that is freakin awesome looking
