BRILLIANT! I love questions like this:)
The answer is no, but spread it around anyway...you might create an urban myth (that you can swear is true) that there's an urban myth (that's untrue) that urban myths are untrue...
Truly!!

That was a very witty question, but I've heard no story that ALL urban myths are untrue, just some of them, as debunked in shows like the excellent 'Mythbusters'. I think most of these stories have some kernel of truth in them on some level. But to put a logical spin on your statement, if the belief that all urban myths are untrue is in itself an urban myth, then the belief itself would be false, which would make urban myths true. Which in turn would make the second part of your statement true too.... which would then mean that they aren't....... which is a novel contradictory conundrum!

No. The fact that urban myths are untrue is due to the fact that they are often easily disproved or just gossipy bedtime stories that have no basis in reality, which is a refutation of the concept of a 'myth'.

urban myths'''are just that urban myths.........stories told when trying to explain something that they dont know the answer of...then that getting more bits added on..and so on and so on.
Like....I saw Mr.White walking his dog over the canal bridge, the dog returned but Mr.White never did, maybe he's been murdered.
Did you hear Mr.White was murdered whilst taking his dog for a walk.
Mr.Whites Dog knows who the murderer is because he must have seen him, unless of course Mr.White wasn't murdered but he'd drowned.
Mr.White was thrown in the canal and he must have drowned ..is that murder or was it an accident....
and on and on and on.
Mr.White however was not murdered and did not drown ..he'd got peed off with walking the dog whilst his wife lazed about in the house so he'done a runner and gone to live in another village.
Well if nothing else I've been having fun and a giggle doing this.. probably not what you wanted. LOL

Yes urban myths are said to be untrue because they are embellished with each telling of the story , however the story must originate from fact or else it wouldn't be told to be embellished .

depends on the story of you ask me... the way i have encountered it in modern day England is that they eventually become myths as people add/ change details of the story. It starts off with truth gossiping etc are added to it
