i dont know the exaxt term in english, but it translates as nonviolent resistance. it means to just stand around as obstacle, not to obey orders of dispersing, but refraining from any kind of violence, even from any action at all, that could be construed as active resistance... forcing the british occupation troops to club or shoot down defenseless poeple without any justifacation at all, which did not sit too well with the british public and even less with the international community, leaving them no alternative in the end as to release india into freedom...

ah! i think the term is peaceful resistance


little story on the side... when ghandi had become a statesman and visited england finally, he was shown around and then was asked: what do you think about civilisation in england?
and he looked around and smiled softly as he always did... and said:

He started playing cricket with his team mates Nehru,Patel.Bhave,Kriplani and also invited Maulana in the team.Because he did not invited Jhina in the team he started hating Gandhi and rest of the hindus. Finally he breakup the country and got his Pakistan.What I mean CRICKET is a nasty game.
